Here's a summary of key benefits of the new plan:

  • Updates 20 year old Comprehensive Plan: The new plan represents updates needed to keep our city moving forward.

  • City eligible for $10 million in County redevelopment funds: The new plan includes opportunities for infrastructure improvements and other public amenities that will improve St. Pete Beach.

  • Stops Condo Conversions of hotels over 5 stories: Residential condos stay at the current lower height limit and stops "condo canyon." Specifically, any building containing residential units cannot exceed the current height limit of 50 feet which is allowed on both sides of Gulf Blvd, Corey, 75th, and BPR.

  • Stops Tall Condominiums: Building height is restricted to no more than 12 stories in large resort area that is within 9/10th of a mile on the beach side of Gulf Blvd. only (only 9 parcels eligible/affected.

  • Increases Public Beach Access: Resort properties must provide attractive access for residents and tourists.

  • Includes Green Building Standards: Will make St. Pete Beach one of the first coastal "green" communities that mandates green building standards.

  • Increases Tourism: The new plan will increase tourism, helping

    local businesses and residents, without raising taxes.
